Nike has a good thing going in their slogan, “Just do it.” There is something to be said for getting up on a Monday morning and facing the day head on.
No matter what you might be facing today, if you dive right into it without hesitation you might be surprised at what you can accomplish. Sometimes, we have tasks at hand that we just don’t want to do. We may procrastinate by doing all those other little things that need doing, and not accomplish the one most important thing that needs to be accomplished. Take on those goals head on.
The relief of having finished your most important task will be wonderful and will allow you to move onto the things you really want to do.
This can apply to your gym routine. If you get up, gear up, and show up, jumping into that workout that you’ve been putting off, then the results you will get over time will be worth the effort.
Here’s a fun exercise:
When you wake up in the morning, grab a notebook. At the top of a fresh page, write:
“What Would Make Today Awesome and Worth My Effort?”
Then, answer your question.
You can break it down into categories for work, home, and gym. At work, what are you going to do to move your projects forward? What do you need to do at home? What’s your plan for the gym?Just jot down a few things. These are just the things you can realistically do TODAY that would make you think tonight, “Yeah, today was awesome, I rocked it.” Don’t overload yourself, keep it realistic. But you will find that if you know run hard at these few tasks, you will be able to get so much more done in your day than you thought.
